Circular Economic Vision

1/6

SiCar Farms has a strong commitment to sustainable development through a circular economy approach.

Where every stage of the lime production and commercialization process is designed to minimize waste and maximize the use of natural resources. From its cultivation to its industrial processing, each and every component of the fruit is put to use.

Apiaries

Installation of 1 beehive every 2 Ha of lime plantation, for the conservation and reproduction of local bees. In addition to establishing pollinating plants endemic to the region.

Natural barriers

Soil Improvement

3/6

Biofertilizers

Soil is a crucial natural resource for agriculture that requires maintenance and care to be productive. Proper agricultural practices establish a balance in food production. To maintain this balance and improve our soils, we produce our own biofertilizers.

Compost

We are committed to sustainability at every step. We use a unique blend of manure and other natural ingredients to create compost. This process not only helps reduce waste, but also improves soil health and contributes to a more efficient, eco-friendly production cycle.

Compost is an essential part of our agricultural practices, because we know that every action toward sustainability counts.

The use of leachate in our plantations reflects our commitment to more sustainable and efficient agriculture. This biofertilizer, rich in microorganisms and nutrients, improves soil health, stimulates plant growth, and reduces the need for chemical products, promoting more sustainable and efficient agricultural production.

We apply vermicompost as an organic amendment that regenerates the soil, improves its water-retention capacity, and adds beneficial microbial life, promoting healthier, more resilient crops with less dependence on synthetic products.

Bio-inputs

To keep our soils balanced, we strengthen the nutrient uptake of our crops through soil and foliar application.

Conservation of Flora & Fauna

Natural Reserves

On our plantations we set aside a percentage of the land as natural reserves. There we can find a great variety of birds and fowl endemic to the region. Some of the activities we carry out to preserve these natural reserves:

Natural Reserves

Conservation of ecological corridors

Natural Reserves

Installation of artificial and natural drinking sources

Natural Reserves

Conservation of natural water bodies

Natural Reserves

Establishment of natural barriers from agricultural crops

Beekeeping

The proliferation and conservation of pollinators is our commitment. Bees are critical to the ecosystem because they are an indicator of environmental conditions such as climate change as well as environmental pollution.

Biological Control

We have a laboratory for research and production of biological control agents, where we raise insects such as Chrysoperla Carnea to control pests and diseases.

Biorepellents

We produce biorepellents, made from essential oils of various spices such as garlic, onion, cinnamon, chili, among others, as well as products derived from the lime processing industry.

Education

Our education support program includes granting $10,000 scholarships to outstanding university students each semester so they can complete their degrees.

Additionally, we collaborate with the University of Colima on the development of a technical high-school program in sales to promote the professional development of our packing, ranch, and administrative staff.

Sports

We firmly believe that sports are the best tool for improving as a community. That is why we sponsor and organize a range of sporting events to promote healthy living.

Social Campaigns

Social Campaigns

Beach and roadside cleanups

We take part in and organize cleanup brigades in our community.

Social Campaigns

Blood donation drives

We are part of the state's altruistic donation club, and we also make financial donations to support its operations.

Social Campaigns

Rehabilitation of public spaces

We work with municipal authorities in the communities where we operate to restore public spaces.

Optimization of Natural Resources

6/6

Clean Energy and CO² Sequestration

Lime cultivation acts as a carbon sink, capturing significantly more CO₂ than it generates. This makes it an agricultural practice with a positive environmental impact in terms of carbon.

1 Ha of Lime Crop

14.42 tons/HaCO² Fixation

1.97 tons/HaCO² Emission

+12.45 tons/HaCO² Balance

Taking a step forward to care for our planet, we have installed 5,200 solar panels at our packing facilities, representing a reduction in our carbon footprint of 2,000 CO² that will not be emitted into the atmosphere.

Water Use

On all our plantations we have a micro-sprinkler system that allows us to save 70% of water compared with other irrigation systems such as water cannons, furrows, and others.
